Samuel Obinna Akpa

Council Member

Samuel Obinna Akpa represent South East geopolitical zone in ICCON council since 2012. Over these years, he made useful contributions to the development of the institute at the committee and subcommittee levels

Obinna Akpa’s education carrier  (which began in 1971) saw him pass through primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions without break and obtained relevant certificates on schedule. His education prepared him for a carrier in the industry and later academics. In 1989, Samuel Obinna Akpa joined Horizon Fibres Nig, PlC Port  Harcourt as a production supervisor and then rose through the ranks to become production manager for years till voluntary retirement in 2004. As management staff, Samuel Akpa headed many committees, mentored students on industrial training, and pioneered the establishment of many projects including HFN Staff Thrift and Credit society ltd

From industry, Samuel Obinna Akpa joined Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki in 2004  as an academic staff. While in academics, he has served on many committees at different levels of administration (department, faculty, and university). He is a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), the polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN), and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON.

He takes an active interest in community service and is happily married with children
