Prof Fanna I. Abdulrahman is a lecturer in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, University of Maiduguri and presently the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Central Administration) of the Borno State University. She was born on 5th March, 1963 in Maiduguri, Borno State, an indigene Ngumati in Monguno LGA of Borno State, Nigeria. Prof. Fanna I. Abdulrahman attended Yerwa Central Primary School, Maiduguri, Borno State Nigeria, where she obtained First School Leaving Certificate in 1975. She obtained the West African School Certificate in 1980 from Federal Government Girls College, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. Prof. Fanna I. Abdulrahman attended University of Maiduguri, where she was awarded with a B. Sc. Chemistry degree in 1987; M. Sc. Organic Chemistry in 1992, M.PA, 1997 and Ph. D Organic Chemistry (Medicinal Chemistry) in 2004 both from University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. Prof. Fanna I. Abdulrahman was appointed Graduate Assistant in Chemistry Department, University of Maiduguri in 1988 and rose to become a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in 2011. She has taught and supervised more than 150 B. Sc. undergraduate students, thirty five (35) M. Sc., and Fifteen (15) Ph. D. students in Organic, Medicinal and Environmental Chemistry. Five of the students she supervised have also attained the Professorial rank. Her research interests are in Organic/Natural Product/ Medicinal Chemistry and Environmental pollution, Impact Assessment and Management. She has authored and co-authored more than 150 scholarly publications in highly rated local, national and international archival journal and has attended twenty-five (25) conferences both locally and internationally. She is also a Professorial Assessor and External/Internal Examiner to so many Universities. Prof. Fanna I. Abdulrahman has been a level Coordinator, Remedial coordinator and Head of Department of Chemistry for twelve years, Sub-Dean and Dean of Faculty of Science at different times. She is also Member of the Departmental and Faculty Postgraduate Committee, Member Board of Research Journal of Science, Member Faculty Seminar Committee, Member Committee of Provost, Dean’s and Directors, Coordinator, Centre for Research and Innovation, University of Maiduguri, and currently, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Central Administration) Borno State University. Prof. Fanna I. Abdulrahman is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON). She is currently the President and Chairman of Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria; an agency of government under the Federal Ministry of Health. She is a mother of four (4) children and eight (8) grandchildren.
