Born on 3rd September 1968 is the 3rd substantive Registrar/CEO of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON). He holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Industrial Chemistry (1991) and a Master of Science Degree in Analytical Chemistry (2002) from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and University of Abuja respectively. He started his civil service career as a Scientific Officer II with the Engineering Department of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in 1993 and rose to the rank of a Deputy Director (2017)/Head of Research at the FCT Water Board, a position he held till his appointment as Registrar/CEO of ICCON in 2018. Upon completion of his first tenure of four (4) years, Chemist Wilford was re-appointed by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria for a second tenure, following his sterling performance in the first tenure. It is gratifying to note that his leadership style has so far recorded tremendous achievements and transformational reforms that have continued to attract global recognition for the Institute, thereby bringing to fore, its relevance not only in Nigeria but also before the international community. Chemist Wilford has influenced policies and regulations that have positively impacted chemical management in Nigeria, including the championing of proper placement of chemists in both public and private sectors within and outside the country, aimed at making the country safe for all. Chemist Wilford is a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (SAB, OPCW), the first Nigerian to be so appointed. In 2015, he was honoured as Chemistry Ambassador by the American Chemical Society for promoting the value of Chemists and chemistry to the community. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chattered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) and Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN). He is a serving member of the Governing Council of ICCON and CSN.
