DR. Augustina Ugonwa Genevieve Okeke

Dr. Augustina Ugonwa Genevieve Okeke is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, of the School of Science Laboratory Technology at Federal Polytechnic Oko. Anambra State Nigeia. She was born in Enugu, Enugu State, to the family of Chief Maurice Anabuike and Bridget Ezibuko Ekwenibe (both of blessed memories) of Umuagbai Kindred, Eziaja Village Nnewi, Anaocha L.G.A Anambra State, Nigeria.
Dr. A.U.G Okeke Attended Ogbete Primary School Enugu and Queen of the Rosary (QRC) Onitsha where she obtained her first school leaving certificate (1976) and West African Examination Certificate WAEC (1981) respectively. She later proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) where she obtained Bsc. Ed (Chemistry), (1986) and Msc. Ed (Chemistry), (1994). Respectively; Dr. Augustina’s desire for higher chemical knowledge motivated her to move to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra State, where she obtained PhD Sc. Ed (Chemistry) (2006) and Msc Pure & Industrial Chemistry (Polymer), (2010).
Dr. Ugonwa or Ugo Okeke started her career at Federal Polytechnic Oko Anambra State in 1988 as Assistant Lecturer and rose to Chief lecturer in 2009. At Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Ugo has served in many duty posts and committees in various capacities, including; the Committee on the investigation of Allegation of Fraud against Staff of Pension Board; Committee on staff complaints on promotion and upgrading and Polytechnic students disciplinary Committee. She was the chairman of, Polytechnic Research and development committee, and Pioneer Director of Renewable Energy Research Centre, Federal Polytechnic Oko. Dr. Augustina is currently the Chairman Polytechnic Examination Malpractice Committee and elected member representing the Polytechnic Academic Board in the Selection Board of the current Federal Polytechnic Oko, Governing council. Dr. A.U.G Okeke has taught, and supervised over 500 ND and HND students in the Polytechnic. Her research interests are renewable energy, Environmental Chemical Education, and Polymer/fire chemistry. She had authored and co-authored more than 100 scholarly republications including 75 highly-rated local and international journals, 10 proceedings, 5 chapters in books, and 10 textbooks.
Professionally, Dr. A.U.G Okeke left no stone along her part unturned. She is a fellow and life member of the chemical society of Nigeria (CSN), a full member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN); A Certified Chemistry Teacher (Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria). She has served (CSN and Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) in several capacities including Chairman of Awards and Chemistry Education/Competitions Anambra State, Treasurer/Financial Secretary in CSN Anambra State Chapter (ANACHEM), National Chairman, of Award & Chemistry Competitors of CSN. Currently, she is the South East Zonal Representative of the 5th council of ICCON.
Dr. Augustina is happily married to her heart throb, Prof. Osita Chris Okeke of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), and the union is blessed with three (4) children.
