The Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) has recorded a significant institutional milestone with the allocation of office accommodation at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The approval, conveyed in an official letter dated 16 July 2026, grants ICCON Room 10, Ground Floor, Federal Secretariat Complex, Uyo, providing the Institute with a permanent operational base in Akwa Ibom State.

This landmark achievement is one of the first major successes recorded under the leadership of the Acting Registrar/CEO of ICCON, Chemist Akwaowo I. Reuben, since his assumption of office. It reflects his commitment to strengthening the Institute’s national presence and ensuring that ICCON’s regulatory mandate and professional services are effectively delivered across all regions of Nigeria.

Under the leadership of the Acting Registrar/CEO, the Institute has prioritized institutional expansion, stakeholder engagement, and improved service delivery.

The establishment of the Uyo office represents a strategic step towards bringing ICCON’s regulatory and professional services closer to chemists, industries, academic institutions, government agencies, and the general public in Akwa Ibom State and the wider South-South region.

The new office will strengthen ICCON’s capacity to regulate the practice of chemistry, facilitate the registration and licensing of professionals, promote compliance with regulatory standards, and foster stronger collaboration with key stakeholders in advancing chemical safety and national development.

The Acting Registrar/CEO reaffirmed his commitment to building a stronger, more united, accessible, and responsive Institute. He emphasized that expanding ICCON’s operational footprint across Nigeria remains a strategic priority in ensuring that the Institute effectively discharges its statutory responsibilities while advancing the chemistry profession and contributing to national development.

ICCON expresses its sincere appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for the allocation of the office space and remains committed to promoting professionalism, regulatory excellence, and the advancement of the chemistry profession in Nigeria.
